Hi all,
I am after a rod to cover most spombing and leading situations, happy to invest in a proper bit of kit that will last and is easy to use. My rods are Hi - S Ive er and would like any reviews on the spm or spod rod but I am not fixed just to free spirit. The longbow x45 4.25lb marker and spod intrigues me but again any reviews would be helpful,

I use the Free Spirit S-lite SPM rod and find it great for the money, not a heavy blank by any means compared with some. I can spomb comfortably at 100yrds with this rod.

i have 12ft his -ive rods and my spod rod is the longbow df spod rod ,not the spod/marker.its light ,powerful,and very accurate. love mine

Got the same rods, happy using my 12ft ctx spomb/marker rod with them at the moment.
Got the 13ft ctx spomb/marker rod as well, not needed to get it out yet though. 12ft doing it.

Bought the 13ft Free Spirit SLite SPM last season and ditched my previous marker and spomb rods. . .great bit of kit - can cast further with this than my actual fishing rods . . .

I have hi s 13ft spomb rod. My complaint is its a very heavy rod and spombing for a lengh of time takes its toll. But the retrieve on the blank is very fast.

I have the hi'sve rods and use the S range spod rod, I find I can compress this easier than the hi s, and chuck a long way with it.
I'm on the look out for a spod/marker rod as just getting back into carp fishing. Do most people just take one rod to do both now rather than a separate marker and spomb/spod rod.

It's down to personal preference but a lot of people have ditched the 2 rod marker/spod set up.
A spod rod can easily be changed from spomb, to marker set up, or just a bare lead using a simple loop to loop, and one less rod to carry.

I suppose I could try it with just the one rod like you said and if I find it a pain to keep changing, then get another rod later down the line. I read that some people find they get better feedback of what the bottom is like with the stiffer tip of the Spod rod anyway, so if that was the case just get two spod rods.
