I think the problem may be the fishing hours in winter
Isn't it days only now?
I think I would contact Steve Briggs in the first instance as he's probably fished it more than most and seems a helpful fella

Definitely possible but day's only (unless you're a stroke puller) so have to be aware that actual fishing time will be restricted at this time of year. Carte de peche is available on line and easy to purchase. There have been some great winter catches over the last few years for those prepared to put in the effort.

Yeah yr right,not sure what's going on at the moment but the west arm is pretty much completely empty so the water must be well down elsewhere

Winter is definitely a good time to go to avoid the Catfish. The lake is plagued by them. I know of a 200lb Silure caught a couple of years ago. However there are fewer but bigger carp now it seems.

I was going to do a couple of weeks myself in the not too distant future but the cats are without doubt putting me off. I've heard it's a bit of a nightmare down there with them at the moment.

The actual time will change each day according to times of sunset & sunrise. The Gard de peche let you know sometimes when you need to be off. Can't be more specific than that.
