Hello, new to the forum and just after abit of advice please.
I bought a few packets of Kamasan B725 size 6 and 8 for 10 pence a packet a number of years ago in a sale to use on the canal incase i hooked a snag and had to pull for a break.
I've used them a number of times before the lockdowns to catch the canal carp that rome on my local stretch, on two occasions when using these hooks they had double hooked, thinking it was just a random coincidence i kind of forgot about them, partly due to recent global events. I used them again tonight and landed a chunky leather that was hooked unbelievebly three times, through the bottom lip then the top lip then back out, round the front of the lips and through the bottom lip again. How the hell did that happen?
I did ask the local tackle shop after the first couple of times and they had never heard of anything like this happening, he suggested that maybe I'd been to rough playing the fish lol, which i wasn't, so I've come here to gather some advice.
In the 25 years I've been fishing sea and freshwater I've never had anything like this happen, I usually use the korda kurv hooks and have never had anything like this happen, seems a waste to bin the kamasan hooks but i fear that is the issue.

I've only had this happen once when using Gardner longshank incizor in size 6. I've not used longshank hooks since. Always use curve shank now. Never happened again.

Thanks for the reply, you've given me more confidence that it's the pattern hook rather then technique. Just seems such a bizarre thing to happen, I've had a thought, maybe as the fish turns left to right or right to left or hits a small piece of weed, there's a moment of slackness encouraging this pattern hook to set deeper. Thank you for taking the time, I'll have to find another use or bin them.
