Evening

Just after some advice if possibly please.

So I started back carp fishing after a 10 year break and bought some Shimano TX2 3lb as a starter but really fancy the look of Free Spirit rods and fancy the CTX in 2.75.

The waters I have and will be fishing are smallish and I don't really go above 2oz or have need to with a stringer or small pva mesh bag.

The CTX as far as I know are the budget end rods for free spirit and priced similar to the TX2.

Are theses rods in the same bracket or would one out perform the other?

Also if anyone has used both does the CTX have a more progressive action as I find the TX2 strong in the tip.

I don't know the TX2's, but I had CTX and got rid because they felt heavy and were quite tippy.

After a while searching and a visit to Dartford I settled on some 2.75 CFX and really pleased with them so maybe worth having a look if you can.

I'd stick with your TX2s, they are great rods for the money, and without spending a lot more you won't get much more rod.

I'd look at the Fox Horizon X3 in this price range, quality rods

Consider a lower test curve . . .if you're only lobbing 2oz and fishing small waters a 2.5tc is more than enough and will give you the action you require . . .

I like my 3.25 TX2's but I only use them for a specific purpose and can imagine you might be a little overgunned with a 3lb TC TX2 . . .
