I've not done much fishing the last couple of years, but looking to get back back into it. As such, I need a new bed. Does anyone have any recommendations please?
Not looking to spend £100s on some mad sleep system, just looking for a flat, comfy bed on which I can sleep well. £200 max budget.

Best advice, don't waste £200 on a bedchair coz all you're going to get is s load of old junk that you'll end up getting rid of. I'm sure bods will chime in with brand X and yabber on 'but look at this bed, it's the nuts made by two bob & Co'. Whatever...next
Save up another £150 (tops) and get a Solar SP C Tech and be done with it. Yeah I'm biased as I've got one and it's blinding. Said this in a few threads now, but I'll say it again: over the many years of fishing fishing solely for carp - since the very early 80's - I've had my fair share of beds, although I've not had any of the beds that have come out in the last year or so, I've looked at them, the Solar bed is the best bedchair I've had or seen which I know from using it extensively will last years and years, won't sag like an old boys scrotum sack or generally piss me off coz bits have fallen off or gone wonky.
I've zero affiliation or connection with Solar, just call it as I see it. Wasted too much money on s4it tier kit in the past to know better and hopefully help others not make the same mistakes I've made.

An awful lot of members on here are recommending the Solar SP C-tech bedchair due to it being very firm and lasting well. I already have an old Fox 6 leg recliner which needs new elastic (I'll probably be replacing the elastic with paracord) which I'll be donating to my 16 year old. I'll also be giving him my Trakker 365 sleeping bag as it's an excellent 5 season sleeping bag (even though it's about 17 years old).
The only downfall I've seen with the Solar sleeping bag on the bedchair system is that it's only rated as 4 season bag. If that's the case I'll probably just buy the Solar SP c-tech bedchair and pair it up with a newer Trakker 365 sleeping bag.

Solar Ch08 build quality is still very good but cheaper then the Sp,C-tech matrass on the Ch08 felt better for me then on the Sp C-tech.

Hi Iam looking at a number of beds at min the solar one being one of them i here it's a great bed but also here it's got a very hard mattress . I understand that a bed is a personal opinion but how comfy is it over a number of nights ?

I thought it was hard at first after coming from a Fox Flatliter, after two weekends using it, I wouldn't use anything else currently.
Like you say, these things are personal. As I've said in other threads regarding the Solar bedchair, you have to give it a while to get used it as I found out.

It seems ? that people that sleep on their back generally prefer a firm to hard bed but people that sleep on their side prefer a softer bed obviously there are exceptions as its a generalisation
I have found most beds are fine for 48 hours but after that when you start getting to day 4 or 5 is when you find out if a bed suits you as thats when the back ache can kick in
I used to fish lots of long sessions in France most I did in one go was 29 nights and that was on a ELS bed when they first came out but all my trips were a min of 14 days as the ferry and fuel costs were the same for 7 days as 14 plus days so I averaged 6 weeks a year
as most people know I am a huge fan of a quality Sim this can improve any bed I have ever put it on provide they dont manually inflate it and ruin the idea of it (its not an air bed)
recently the Solar beds are getting rave reviews personally I would never buy a sleep system preferring the versatility of a separate bag and or cover
its very hard to recommend a bed as we are all so different the way we sleep Age back problems etc all play a part

The Ch08 matrass feels softer then the Sp-tech, apart from the legs and higs both beds are similar, + the Ch08 has a 2D mattress and the Sp-ctech a 3D mattress, which one is better is personal
I ended up selling both beds and buying the Trakker levelite oval, but that doesn't mean the Solar beds are bad, they just weren't good for my body, the build quality is top.

I'm starting to think I may actually be better off with the Trakker levelite too as I sleep on my side 99% of the time. I've already got an old (about 17 years now but only used about 6 or 7 times in that period) Trakker 365 sleeping bag that I'm hoping to keep as it's soooooo comfortable and warm. If I were to buy the Trakker levelite sleep system, would I be able to take off the sleeping bag that comes as part of the sleep system and give it to my 16 year old to use on his bedchair (my old Fox Recliner 6 leg).

Trust me you won't want to give away the Trakker oval levelite sleeping bag it's so comfortable and warm, also had a separate 365 bag (return it to the shop) there's no reason not to use the levelite oval bag
Only downside: it is a heavy bed the Trakker rollup bag helps me with transport

Actually just seen that they do a Levelite Lumbar Supporr bedchair. The bit that's putting me off the oval is that it tapers at the feet. I remember when I had the Fox 5 season sleeping bag about 20 years ago that I hated having my feet (size 13) restricted at the foot of the bag (that's why I replaced it with the Trakker 365 sleeping bag).
The levelite lumbar is 87cm wide and 215cm long (I'm 6ft 4in tall and 18 stone). Perhaps that might be a better choice and use my 365 bag on the lumbar version.
