Do carps have different preferences for bait depending on location?
I'm from Canada and caught my first carp a few weeks ago and since then I've been watching a lot of videos on the British method of carp fishing.
Excited to try the British method out, I put together a method feeder and hair rig with a homemade boilie to try out at the lake last night.
Zero bites.
I ended up getting a carp on a pickerel rig with a nightcrawler. This is the same rig I used when I caught my first carp.
I'm curious as to why the boilie didn't attract any bites? It was made of wheaties, strawberry jello powder, creamed corn, whole wheat flour and eggs. .
Should I try the method feeding technique again or is it likely the carp around here prefer nightcrawlers over boilies?

If your fish are feeding on natural food and thriving, then it will take an awful lot of extremely high quality artificial feed to persuade them to switch food source.
Probably best to concentrate on location and attraction in the baits rather than long term hnv theory.

basic problem you have is the fish recognising your home made boilie as a food source so the only way your going to achieve this is to pre bait regularly with it

You can combine the advice on posts 3 and 4.
Fish your method feeder including both Maize and your boilies in your method mix and in any free offerings you introduce. Use Maize on the hook to start with then after a few sessions, after the fish have seen a few boilies, you will probably find they will confidently feed on them and you can use them on the hook.

Ive fished out there and had bites from the off on boilies. They didn't out fish maize though and we also used a very stinky method mix.
Are you sure they were about?
If I lived there id try fermentation of the maize and pre baiting

Boilies were developed for two problems nuisance fish find them harder to deal with.. try telling that to the Bream.. And secondly they were boiled round so it was easier to introduce free offerings. Due to the very fact these baits are boiled does seem to lock in the attraction for longer. Which in many cases it does seem to make the carp take longer to recognize them as a food source
If I was you and thist has already been mentioned I would use Corn, maize cream of corn added to a cereal type groundbait which seems to be instantly recognized as a food source. If you do what to persevere with your boiled baits I would start introducing them with the Maize corn once grounbait you start catching on it. Hope this is of some help. Good luck.

Some very good advice given, when I was young and stupid I fished france with boillies on lakes that had not been boillie fished, and always only caught on the boillies after 24 hrs, maze was straight away, I was on sea food blend by Rod Hutchinson, a great boillie home made, enyway I asked rod Hutchinson why I was struggling on the sea food and catching on the maze and he just said use maze then lol, but we did notice we got the better fish on boillie.

I've had fish on scent from hell and TCarpers S2's fished as singles pub chucked when they were moving out.
They weren't in any way cautious i was fishing 6-8ing naked chods.
