Just curious, does anyone know how much difference light line will make for casting? I've currently got 20lb line on my reels and I fish relatively small weedy waters.
Is it worth buying new spools, putting on light line with shock leaders? How much difference will it make?

Unless you are changing lakes to large weedless snagless waters. Why risk losing fish with light line in the weed?

Light lines make a massive difference.. only you can choose weather its safe to use on your particular water.
I'd say I can cast up to 110 with 0.40 and add another 10 or 20 years easily with a 0.33

Well if you know you need more distance than you can reach with you're
current set up then thinner line will add some distance. Only you can decide if it's safe to do so. Lake rules permitting of course.

Fox Exocet in 13lb with a braided shockleader is what I use for distance work, certainly makes it easier than thrashing with heavier mono straight through

Korda have brought out a new line today that is very thin for its breaking strain and is designed for casting I believe ......

Generally I like tapered lines but one big wind knot / frap up & they're done.

Because of the fact that once a few feet are trimmed off the end ,they are done for, whereas using a leader where allowed they can be replaced without respooling. And everyone has their favourite line ,most of which a tapered version isn't available.
