Just sorting rods out for France in 3 weeks and noticed one of the inserts is missing from a rod ring
Does it have to go to a rod builder or is there a DIY fix ?

The whole eye needs replacing.
If you are in a pinch and cant get a rod builder in time, carefully cut the whipping off with a stanley blade, gently warming with a lighter will soften the glue if nessisarry. It will come off really easily.
And then just electrical tape a new eye in place untill you can get it booked in.
Unless its the tip ring, they are usuallly easy enough to replace yourself.

Tackle box can fix that i believe. I need to get an eye with a crack on an old rod fixed. They take the opd ceramic out and pop a new one in

I have had a couple of eyes done while I waited at tackle box in the last year

Believe gently heating the frame around the insert will allow it to be popped out but you may need heat proof gloves,.

You can buy on eBay.
I believe rods and blanks sell just the inserts to.
Heat the old ring with hair drier, be careful not to heat the blank and burn the whipping area. Slip new one in and allow to cool whilst mixing a little epoxy. Wipe the glue around just as a preventative measure.
If you phone guilds and blanks and tell them the rod and any markings on the ring they mine be able to sort you. Been very helpful to me in the past.
