I'm just starting out and looking to purchase a barrow for all my gear, looking for something that is quite small and compact as don't have a massive car, any suggestions?

IF ?? you take a lot of gear a Portalite might be a struggle and the NEW mk2 is only a little bit bigger pack down but can take a lot more gear if needed

Cygnet's sniper barrow is only £100 and packs away small and I can fit a fair whack of stuff on it. The only extra you need is a few bungies/straps

Whats the difference between the streamline and the standard mk2 Gerry do you know or anyone else come to that? Looks the same to me apart from the 1 has the rod Y bar and the streamline doesn't or am I missing something.

a few things inc its now upgraded with Precision wheel bearings
it has a new drop in bag this can be removed in seconds for safe storage in the bivvy and makes storage much easier
new Corner Locking Handle Eliminates Any Movement When Lifting. This Greatly Adds To Stability
think they have made a few other things too reinforcing some areas
includes bungees, and spares kit . my old one didnt
I have a Portalight they are brilliant but if you are going for a long session if you take a lot of gear its just not big enough in my opinion
and the difference in packdown transport size isnt really that great is it

Thanks Gerry, I'm in the market for a new barrow so this post came up at the right time for me and have seen many posts recommending the prestige carp porter mk2 so just wondered what you got with the streamline version

. . .disagree with that (sorry Gerry!). Loaded properly a Porterlite can still take more than enough gear . . .maybe not enough for a week but def enough for 48hr+ sessions . . .breaks down flat and can be stashed in a small hatchback
IMO if you're taking a bedchair you don't need sides on a barrow as when loaded properly the bedchair legs work in pretty much exactly the same way . . .

Nash Trax Evo Barrow for me. Strong and sturdy but it's quite heavy. Looking to buy 2nd hand one for my brother as new Prestige Mk2 he bought is poor in comparison imho. And he is gutted.

Another vote for the porterlite great little barrow, mostly only do days now just the odd night now and again so plenty big enough but you might struggle if your going for longer sessions like some of the lads do

lol no problem Chris we all have our opinions
my current portalite is the second one I have owned over the years and used only thing different is I have a set of straight handles for it so I do know how to load one mate
and for overnighters and a couple of days they are hard to beat I completely agree
but if your the sort of person that likes a double burner gas bottle a bedchair a cool box and a chair and 10 liters of water a BBQ etc etc then the mk2 is far more capable and stable with a bigger capacity and as far as transporting it wheel comes off goes in the passenger well and the frame goes flat and lays on top in the back
my mk2 has gone now and these days I use a Fox explorer that wheels straight in the back of my estate car loaded and when I am better I will get it motorised with one of the kits they are selling for it now

The mk 2 isn't much bigger folded than the porterlight once you ditch the sides and y bar, but so much more versatile, and easier to lose more weight around the wheel with the panniers and porter pals.

Agreed, you can fit **** loads on a Porterlite, trick is to extend the front bars as far as they'll safely go, the balance is superb once you get it right. This is for a 48 and I have an RT4 on there as well. Bloody dog getting in on the act again
