I have tried searching but I can't find what I'm after......so sorry as I know this has been done to death.
I'm willing to pay whatever it takes to get the right pair of boots.
I have had a good few pairs of boots now but they have all been leather and have all leaked after 2-3 years even though I'm quite careful with them and treat them as I should (wax etc).
The last two pairs have been Meindl and I have to admit that although I liked them they were useless in wet grass and I didn't find them comfortable. Before that I had Brashers which were more comfortable but leaked after a couple of years. Now I don't expect something to last forever but if treated properly I expect to get more than I have been from them.
I now don't know wether I should be going for a material type walking boot with a Goretex liner as surly these will be both waterproof and extremely comfortable too. Basically, I love my Carp fishing but as I have ants in my pants I have found myself doing more and more river fishing where I just have a rod, net and rucksack and I walk for the whole day sometimes doing 5 miles walking. For this none of my boots have ever been comfy enough.
Can anyone recommend anything from experience? I'm not fussed about warmth as I have always believed that if your legs are warm then so will your feet be so it's just comfort and waterproofing that's essential.

The only fully waterproof walking boots, over an extended period, I've found are the Bridgedale dry boots. I think they are marketed under a different name now. They are a rubber lace up boot, I always found them quite comfortable. Have you tried a good quality pair of wellies such as Aigle or Le Chameau? Never had any problems doing a couple of miles on the moors in either of these.

all liners (Goretex, Event etc) leak eventually .... I would look at a low cut Muck Boot or similar

I will take a look but I was after a boot rather than a welly really. I have had some of the muck boots and found that my feet would sweat in them. I will take a look though 👍

I've had some Salomon Goretex walking boots for about 4/5yrs, never leaked and still seem plenty of wear left in them. Waterproof up to the ankle, and don't smell at all as breathable 👍

The problem with Gore Tec lined boots is if water gets into the boots it can't then get out. I wear Salomon Quest GTX boots when I'm on the river, but they now leak. Some sealskinz waterproof socks inside keeps my feet dry.
When I did a lot of hillwalking, I always wore Inov8 trail shoes and sealskinz rather than leather boots.
I can recommend the Salomons for comfort.

Think mine are the Quest 4D, would recommend for walking for sure, a bit clumpy but worth it 👍

To keep boots breathing well wash them inside with lots of tec wash, I literally water it down, pour it in and leave in there overnight to have a good soak, then rinse out with lots of fresh water, dry out and put the insoldes back in bingo.

Ive been wearing a set of military issue Haix leather high boots. I wear them for fishing, and long hikes and they have never leaked. for this there is a compromise of comfort, there's definately comfier boots out there but they arn't unwearble, which shows as I dont feel the need for a new pair.

altberg leather boots and bathe them in good quality wax based polish
ive got a few pairs off ebay in various condition, even the tatty ones keep the water out.
for thick socks in cold weather you need a couple of sizes up as they match up to ordinary shoe sizes quite close.

Had my Meindl Burma Pro's for 10 yrs super comfortable & still as waterproof as the day I bought them !!
