I'm in the market for a new sonar GPS for my boat fishing. Raymarine Dragonfly Pro seems to get pretty good reviews all round. For holiday fishing in France I take a bait boat, looking online it seems people can convert the Dragonfly Pro for bait boat use over WiFi (adding £200 to the price).
For those in the know, how easy is this conversion and is there a guide available anywhere?
How easy would it be to swap the Dragonfly between my boat (used year round) and the bait boat (used once a year for a week)
I'd be willing to double up on transducers/cables if it makes it straightforward.

If you are using two transducers it a simple unplug and plug (one connector) I have no idea about the Wi-fi side of the units as I tried it once and wiped all my waypoints so never went there again. The transducer is quite long, from memory around seven or eight inches so may be difficult to use on a bait boat.
I am currently using ray marine element but loved the pro and would happily go back to using one

For your exact reason I was considering asking Carplounge (or Matt at Fisheye) to make me a towable version of DF, similar to the ones CL do for their commercial customers. By towable I mean behind bait boat as I'd probably put the box on a fixed boom of a boat.
I didn't get any further with it due to lockdown so for not it's a Deeper Chirp doing a similar job.

Haven't seen the Carp Lounge ones. You stick the Raymarine unit in a floating box and tow it behind?
I was planning on putting the Raymarine in the boat and fitting the transducer to the hull, think I may even be able to fit this inside the hull as I've seen installs inside the hull of a canoe.
Then I guess a WiFi access point on the bank to boost the range.

If you fit it inside the hull boss white is the way to go. Silicone etc is a bit hit or miss

I'm not sure if the link below will work but that's the sort of thing they do commercially and I'm sure it could be scaled down to a smaller towable unit or a drop in hopper unit. I really can't justify buying 2 independent units, just silly really.

Link works fine, thanks. Well I've taken the plunge and bought the Dragonfly, I guess I'll just have to figure it out!
Hopefully I can come up with something a bit neater than dragging a big peli case around!
