the original Korum scales were very unreliable so hope these are better

If you want compact then try the 40kg luggage scales that are all over eBay for around a fiver.
I have 3 sets for various jobs. They work. For minimalist short trips they are fantastic.
My Reubens and Avon's stay at home now.

While not exactly compact !!
we all normally have a chair or bed-chair so these scales live in there
and are 100% accurate well worth a look for not a lot of money very easy to use day or night

just what I have read on a lot of the Barbel forums as lots of river anglers use Korum gear m8 but maybe its just people not looking after their gear ?

Gerry and Toronto,I had the mk 1s,korum scales since new this is what I learnt..
The first set I had,the battery terminal is too tight ,only battery I found that fitted was a maxcell,the terminal broke,got another set sent,have had zero problems,I threw away the neoprene case ,as I don't like fighting scales in the dark and loosing..
I'm probably going to get a set of the new compacts,they might be very good,and only 25..pasty as well..lol

The Korum MK1 version was appalling.
I bought a set for occasional use (instead of lugging my Reubens) and they started playing up after only the 2nd or 3rd use.
The digital display was at fault, so not fit for purpose.
They were never abused and kept safe and dry.
Just a terrible quality product and i have heard of similar experiences others have had with them.
