Just bough a century spodding machine spod rod from ebay and when the rod flexes the guides make a clicking noise. The guide are fuji titanium k's and it was built by nick buss. The inserts are not loose sounds like its coming from the foot in the epoxy. Its brand new and never been used. Is that normal? After googling it a few people said its because its new. Not sure on the guides mind as they are bloody huge but was a bit of a bargain at £125. I would imagine the rings would cost that by themselves.

If its the whipping resin/epoxy it should stop after a few good casts.

When I had my old Ballistas re whipped I had exactly the same thing, it was the resin mix. I queried it with Kev Clayton when I had some new rods made, he did tell me what it was but I've forgotten, fat lot of use 🤣

Its usually caused by the epoxy curing too fast so its not as flexible as it should be .As long as the guides are not loose it will be fine but would get on my tits.

All the guides are fine and secure. I read on the net that it happens quite a bit with the k guides as they are so long, not sure if thats true or not though. There bloody ugly things mind. I didnt realise they were 50mm k's as it never said and they didnt look that big on the photos.

They are really good guides , 50ml in any form is a hideous guide.

Id worry that water would penetrate under the epoxy and rust the reel foot and blow the whippings.

Iirc my next question to Kev was if it enables moisture ingress will the joints go white over time, I seem to remember him saying no due to the forumulations used now.

It depends what you use , the seymo one is awful, that goes white if you breath on it.
