Guys,
Want to get into some float fishing and after some advice. The setup will need to be able to land carp of 40lbs and up as my local lakes all have some big fish in it but also need to be light and fun to play smaller fish with.
The 2 x rods I am currently looking at are a nash scope 10ft 2.75tc or the Daiwa Longbow floater special 2.75tc.
What are your thoughts on either?
Also what would be a good reel to partner above. Ideally Daiwa as thats the majority of my kit. Looking at something decent to hold min 12lbs floater line and can handle the drag of a big fish. I only know big pit reels really so reel info would be much appreciated) Was looking at the Daiwa Ninja range but dont know if the drag on them is any good etc.

Has to be a daiwa ss2600 imo.

I personally reckon that 2.75lb TC is a bit on the heavy side for floater fishing.
Something around 2.25lb TC would be better for the majority of situations you are likely to encounter, with the exception of regularly fishing in dense weed and/or at 80+ yards.

I use a fladen tele spin,and a okuma titan reel loaded with 10lb esp floater line straight through, it fits in the barrow bag,just in case..
Also I sometimes use a 11ft travel Avon quiver,with a Mitchell 300 boomerang check..tc is around 1.5tc,if I remember..
I don't use any high test curve rods at all,...

Look at the 10ft scope 2.25lb rod paired up with the Daiwa GS4000 LTD that's exactly what I use as a surface fishing setup and find it great

What would the weight limit of a 2.25tc rod be? Only asking as i regularly fish lakes with carp up to 50lbs and however unlikely it will be me catching one of them don't want to be in a scenario where my equipment is not strong enough if I do hook into a monster

There is no weight limit. A rod will land whatever you hook if it's played correctly. And carp rod on the market will land any carp that swims if used correctly

1.5tc 11ft Tackle Box rod with a Ss1600 is my go to floater set up with 10 lb Gardner floating line.

Cheers for the info guys.
Ended up going with daiwa longbow df floater special 2.25tc with daiwa 18 ninja LT reel.
Figured 12ft rod can also be used as spare rod for my 12 year old

Should be a pretty good set up.
