Hi all.
I'm after peoples feed back and opinions on the FS Hi S 3 1/4 and 3 1/2 tc carp rods.?
Regarding distances your fishing with the size of your lead weights your using in your fishing?
Are they any good for distances using pva bags?
Their playing actions?
What you prefer in tc?
Is one better than the other in differant situations.
Are they mainly for use on small to medium size waters?

I have the CTX in 13 ft with a 3.5tc and can get those to 132 measured on a field with 15lb esp synchro loaded with no leader and a 4 oz lead with a modified overhead thump
I admit I'm not the best caster in the world as most of my work is margin to about 50 yards and haven't been out this year yet.
Hopefully the hi s will be better as I am thinking about getting a set

I had the Hi S 3.5 12 1/2 footer 50mm rung factory standard build.
I found it very much on the unresponsive side, not a lot of feel to it. It chucked a 3 1/2 lead a good distance but it felt awful with a fish on close in despite all the “ soft under the tip” advertising bollox. With a big fish under the tip boring and head banging and sudden surges I had the clutch set very light and didn't trust the rod tip to cushion the lunges.
Although I probably didn't get the best out of it distance wise, I did on one French lake put it through its paces a bit of a long chuck swim, probably in the 130 - 140 yd region I also had a much older ESP Vertex Distance 12'9” 3.25 with me and coupled it with the same reel and line as the Hi S ( Shimmy Technium 10,000XT and Ultima Carp Floro coated line) and found out the difference for me in distance was about 1 rod length in favour of the Hi S but the older ( and much cheaper) Vertex was much nicer to fish with. After that I got rid of the Hi S set on here and went back to the Vertex's which suit me better. So they lost out in a fish off to an older, cheaper model.
They wouldn't be my choice for smal to medium sized waters.
I've never used it with PVA but due to its stiff action I'd say it would be OK with reasonable sized bags.
My mate has the same HiS rods but in 12' and he loves them. Horses for course I expect and the replies you get will reflect this.

I stopped using FS rods as they don't perform well with larger bags.....

Could hit 100 yards easily which i know isn't far, but it's as far as i can generally cast and as far as i've needed to go. Friends have put them much much further. Personally thought they were lovely rods to play fish on, and bent lovely with no worry of a hook pull.

i would class both as all rounders not really designed for pva bag work. if your doing pva work a lot look as the xsive or hisiver more back bone.

I've had the Hi S ft ER's for a while now - just excellent and so easy to extract distance from them, unlike some rods where unless you really know how to fully load up the blank, you'll never get the best out of the rod. I did have the standard Hi S 3.5's for ages, but when faced with having to fish more often at distance (150 yds plus), decided to move those on and replace with the ER. I tend to leads of 3.5 to 4oz with them... they also tackle mid range well, although for fishing under say 70yds, I still use the 12ft ES. The ER's, like any distance rod, aren't going to be that great for playing fish on, but they're OK and better than the 3.5's I had - having said that, when you are bring in fish from distance, it's hardly playing them. I just want them in the net as quick as I can. If you are fishing mainly small to medium waters, then I'd get the ES over the Hi S in any test curve - it's that good. They'll do 120 yards if you need them to, but much better for fishing shorter distances, even margin work and are just great to play fish on - with the zig extensions, I have loads of confidence playing big fish on light lines and at close range.

Ive had about 5 sets of hi s over the years and used to love them but after getting a set of century 2.5 graphenes at the start of the year the hi s feel dated and a bit dead compared to the graphenes. The hi s has to be over 20 years old now and things have moved on a bit, its still a lovely blank though. The price they charge for a 20 year old blank is ridiculous now as well. The only thing i would change on the graphenes is the alps reel seat but im getting used to it now.
