Hi all,
Looking to get one of the above as a floater rod/stalker/a third rod to use in the margain. Am a fan of Century rods, currently using C2s and NGs.
I have seen a lot of favourable reviews of the mk1 armalites but very little about the mk3s - what are peoples thoughts on the new(er) versions? Looking at them primarily for margain work/fish playing rather than slinging leads to the horizon (also I think the factory build looks awesome).

Looks awesome except for the modern reel seat on a classic blank with more traditional guides sizes and buitifull cork, they are on the heavy side by modern blank standards.

Not sure what the Mark 3's are like as I have Mk 1's. But the Mark 1's are spot on for margin/floater fishing, so don't see any reason why the Mark 3 won't be as good if not better.
There's a Mark 3 for sale on ebay starting @ £200. Not too far from you either.

Had all series of Armalites in the last few years.
The MK2, with the slighly more green finish was the stiffest of all three.
Surprisingly we found the MK3 the softest of all three, and my favourit. Fastest blank recovery after casting.
In compare to NG 2,75 less tip heavy
I didn't like the factory finish of the MK3 armalites. No complaines about the built quality but would see normal cork handles with original Fuji DPS reel seats.
In the end they're all sold and now use Torrix 3,25 and Harrison 3-pc stalkers due to different weedy lakes.
Would still favour a set of MK3 2,25

Next year i will have a custom build Armalite mk3 set , Cork handle, no alps real seat and red whipping

Are they a 30mm or 40mm butt ring (Factory build), I can't find this listed anywhere. If it's a 40mm I'll probably pop one of my emcast 25a's on it, otherwise will pick up a smaller spooled reel.

Don't know the answer, but ask the guy on ebay, he'll tell you. Looks like a 30 to me from the photos, but I could be wrong. Also, let us know how you go on with the auction, I notice it has one bid.

Yeah it does look like a 30mm - hard with nothing in pictures to compare for scale. If it's a 30 I may try a GS4000 on it.
The opening bid on ebay is me. Will let you know how it goes.

Won the auction, so I'm now the owner of an unused mk3 for £230 - saved me £120+, thanks for that.
Has anyone tried a daiwa 25a with a 30mm butt ring? Will see how an emcast balances on the rod but feel even if it is ok eeight wise the coils coming off the spool may be a bit large..?

There's a member on here who can cast 180+ with basiairs and 30mm guides, I wouldn't worry. You could use 20s and it wouldn't have a negative impact on a stalking rod, in fact it would make the rod better.

Well done on the win, let us know what you think of it when you've used it.
I'd just try your reel on the rod and see what you think, if it's no good, then think about getting something else.

Reels feel a little heavy on the rods but don't look too big on the rods/compared to the butt ring. Coincidently they are apmost the exact same colour as the reel seat so visually look a great match.
The weight won't be an issue when using them as a bottom margain rod but I'll likely pop one of my Daiwa TDMs on it if specifically using for floater fishing.
