Hi guys.
I'm getting a new set of torrix with Cork handles. Had Cork handles for years and they always get a bit grubby even with regular wipe downs etc. Do you guys use anything to seal or protect them? Also, is it possible to give them a very light sanding and the coat with anything?

I leave mine as they come and when they get grubby, a soap filled Brillo pad brings them up like new

Does everyone leave the clear plastic on the cork or remove it?

I do,I have a pair of torrix custom 10' and leave the plastic on Also just had a pair of Nash dwarf cork 6' for travelling light and I keep plastic on them too.

These are second hand so they have the plastic removed already. Stunning rods so I want to protect them and keep them looking beautiful.

No point of having lovely cork and then ruin it with plastic coating.

Never leave the plastic on , water gets behind and rots the cork due to being permanantly wet.When i did refurbs i did hundreds due to this.
Get yourself a magic sponge ,£1 in home bargain and will last years gets them looking like new again.

Thanks all, the plastic is off. With lockdown and self isolating, the rods haven't been on the bank yet, so no harm done.
Just need a magic sponge now from Home Bargains!

The home bargain ones are called erase away in cleaning section. cut a piece off dip in water , light rub job done 👍

That was the done thing at one time
I bought a couple of 10 foot HiS rods, got some large clear shrink tube of the bay and did them, looked very good to me, got slated by Gerry though for not getting the true feel of the cork and the blank
Removed t when I flogged them, looked like new
