Any suggestions on how to make the drag on a tournie spool looser? It is always pretty stiff no matter if I use the usual spool cap or a weston cap?

Try to tighten the drag completely and leave it that way for for a day or two. That will perhaps squeeze some of the grease out of the felt washers and compress them slightly. I had the same problem on some Entohs years ago and this trick did help back then.

Cleaned up the excess grease like you said, and now spin much looser. Thanks for the advice 👍👍👍
