Can see a lot of mixed thoughts in the ultegra 5500 XTD, but what are peoples views in the older model the XTB? Worse? Better? Anyone had both to compare?

I've had both models in the past found them both fine didn't have any problems with them

I use a set of 5500XTD's for a couple of years now and no issues with them what so ever.
I do advise to replace the original spool washers for carbon ones though.

Bloody great reels. Wish I had never sold them and then spent a fortune on tourneys, ISO's, Penn's and now castizm !

i thought the XTB's were very average at best .... Not had XTD's

I've got the xtb 14000, lovely reels. A little heavy compared to the ci4 stuff but I don't stand there holding them for hours on end.
Line lay is great, smooth clutch id recommend them.

I've got the XTB ci4 5500 and XTD 14000 I think they're both spot on, had the original XTB 5500's as well. Smooth good line lay, never let me down.
