Do a search mate, somebody burnt their bivvy with a fag recently, he was told to use a Nicorette Patch, but there were some serious suggestions on it as well. Was within the last couple of months.

Aquasure is a glue type product ideal for sticking tapes back on
Tenacious tape is another, good for patches
Both very good products
Both recommend to me by a popular tent manufacturer because their products were crap

The trouble with silicon, if it doesn't work, it leaves a residue few other remedies will stick to.
Get the proper stuff for the job
