I bought 5 kilos of shelf life kg1. They are so hard they don't absorb the matching impact boilie dip. Has anyone else experienced this. Is there anything I can do or use to soften them. I only want them soft enough so I can put a needle through. They were purchased off the Richworth web site

Try hot water that might work then drain water off once cooled then add your liquid and leave to dry

If there that hard you cant put a needle through them.. i would be sending them back..

Shelf life are generally harder than frozen. But no that hard. It sounds to me they've been sitting round a while.

Richworth were taken over and the recipes and manufacturing processes were changed, so while a tutti for example might still have the same flavour that is all it will have in common to the original

Send them back and buy elsewhere. Plenty of good bait companies around

Real sad that structure of the boilie may have changed.

It is really a long time ago that I used Richtworth boilies, in Holland I don't know any shops that sells them.

But in the old days I think the soft crumby texture combined with the nice flavours en bright colour made them great baits.

I would send them back if they are so hard textured, btw.

Different owners now. Bob sadly no longer with us. Different factory. Different baits. Richworth in name only now it seems. Basically Mistral now isn't it?

I can't think of a single favourable review of the baits since the change of ownership.

Shame

Stupid question, how old are they?

My mate used to used to use Richworth, did will on the KG1, light coloured bait with a plum smell as I remember, the glug was clear and of a thick consistency.

Depending on how much you intend to use, you could do 1kg batches. 3 days prior to fishing I would put them in a large zip and seal bag and coat them in water, give them a good shake around and check them after 24hr, if the texture is better you could then add the glug, or you could add the glug to a small amount of warm water as suggested and cover the baits in this, trial and error is the way forward

Mate did well on their multiplex too. Once gave me about 10kg of Ultraplex when he changed bait. I was baiting a large water at the time, threw this in with my baits, fish went nuts.

There are a lot of hard shelf life baits, or there were. I used Trigga for a few season and wouldn't touch the sheflf life stuff, they were like bullets, a mate used to catch well on them though, didn't bother the fish
Are you sure?
