Hi - I'm looking for a straight comparison between the two sets of rods, from someone who has or who has had a seyt of both, I've got the 3¾ Infinity DF X45's and love them, great casting and playing rods - and I'll be honest, until i picked one up and had a play around with it, thought that they'd be rubbish - however after using them for over a year, I'm hooked on them, which has got me thinking - how much better the Basia rods could actually be - I've read the blurb about them, but could do with knowing from someone who has had both sets that can give an honest opinion...
I'm not looking to start a Danny Fairbrass slagging competition or start a row about how expensive the Basia rods or how you can cast further on your 10 year old Fox Warrior rods - just out of interest, are the Basia's THAT different???

Not sure how many answers you will get, I think most people would get customs built if spending that kind of money

I've had quite a few sets of customs, but to be fair, if I had the option to have them custom built, the only things I'd change would be to have a matt finish to the blank and and abbreviated handle.. but I've got used to the Infinty's now so am relaxed about it..

Never used the carp rods but had the infinity barbel rods and now the basia x45 barbel rods both in 2.25lb and the basias feel lighter and more responsive and has a much quicker recovery, they are a superb blank and much nicer than the torrix and hi s barbel rods i have owned which felt a bit dead in comparison. I would imagine the blanks are the same as the carp rods only in a lighter test curve.

Have you ever used an Infinity blank? They are pretty awesome and better than a lot of the stuff people are getting customs made on. If these blanks were more available to build then they would be far more common place.

I really wanted a set of infinity's, but the build quality wasnt all that when i looked at them. Would definitely have been my first choice if i could have had them custom made

Whilst I can't comment from my own experience, I have 2 good friends who have used pretty much the entire daiwa rod range. Both of them prefer the infinity to the basia. As do a lot of the korda lads.

Not for many years no, not likely to Tbh. No need to look past the Harrison range imo. My current set are built exactly how I want them for £100 per rod less than the daiwa off the shelf models hence my comment.

I have 2 sets of infinities. One set built by Tackle Fanatics with full cork and minima rings. The other older set built by Bankside with full duplon and sic rings. Both sets are still excellent after several years use. A friend has basias and one rod has softened considerably. I dont think there is much difference in performance between the 2. Basia may be slightly slimmer ?

Johnson Ross used to offer infinity custom builds as well. I've owned free spirit, Century, sportex, northwestern and Harrison including torrix and aviator. Own original infinity xld, infinity df and basia df and the infinity df x45 in 13ft 3.75tc or the 4.25tc and still my favourite distance rods.

A friend of mine used to work for Korda and he said that they got a big enough discount on Daiwa Tackle that they could resell it a couple of years later for the sa,e price they paid - I.e. it was essentially free (if you had cash in the bank).
He said that with money no object, the people buying tackle pretty much all upgraded from DF Infinities to X45, but did not buy Basia rods. They also bought Longbow spod Rods not Infinity spod rods as they preferred them.
For me that answered the question!

Because daiwa never offered them the discount on the basia rods, personally I would love to see a 13ft infinity x45 in 3.75tc with the grey finish and subtle screen print of the basia and k series titanium guides in 40mm advanced pattern.
