Been trying to source a pair of Baffin trappers(size 10) with no success.
Everywhere seems to be out of stock and not getting any more in.
Looking for an alternative and seen Fortis Elements advertised in a few places which look very similar.
Has anyone tried/used these yet and have an opinion or can suggest an alternative ?
Used Skeetex, sundridge hotfoot before but want somthing that's ok for walking in as well as sat on the bank.
Currently using Grubs iceline and they just don't provide enough warmth when static for a while.

Might seem a bit metal, if I know I'm going to have to wade through deep puddles, I'll ditch my walking boots and have a pair of normal wellies for going through that and Skeetex for loafting around in. I've not found anything better than Skeetex.

There are the US military Micky Mouse boots, also known as Bunny Boots - the Inuit people of the Arctic region are famed for wearing them - never worn them but I do know people who have and swear by them, might look a knob in them though.

ive not used them but Kamik do some very similar styles and get good reviews on youtube (made in Canada as well)

Baffin Maples are more like walking boots and are suited to colder temps than the trappers if you can get hold of them. Before them I used The North Face snow boots which were warm and comfy enough for walking in.

Depends on how often you fish when it's really cold.

Instead of investing a load of cash in Baffins or similar, I use cheaper thermal boots (Hotfoot) with those thermal insoles that heat up by mixing a variety of chinese chemicals with fresh air. Seems a warmer and cheaper option for the dozen or so days I spend beside a near-frozen lake each year.

Whatever you do, I'd imagine changing from 'walking' footwear to 'sitting about' footwear would be a good idea.

For sitting in my bivvy during the colder Months I have a small piece of thick carpet I put my feet on That reduces the cold a fair amount.......

That last sentence is absolutely the key - it does mean taking two pairs of boots but having walked to the swim and setup in a pair of walking boots, then changing into Baffin Titans and the thickest Smartwool socks, forget about having cold feet... The sweat whilst active and setting up gets cold, that's the point.

I can walk around in the Baffin's fine and they are OK for short distance but its not recommend, by me anyway. Walking around I just wear my Merells. Sat in a swim, Baffins, perfect

You could have a look at Muckluks John, quite cheap, no good for walking in but very good for sat around in. I had these for many years (20?) before the Baffins. Come with two pairs or liners

Or the Skeetex thermal wellies



Edit - had a look, cant see the Muckluk thermal wellies anymore, not sure if they have stopped making them or there is not stock?

Being old I walk to my swim and settup in the same boots but soon as I've set up it's into bed for a kip and never get cold feet.

Thanks for the replies.
Prob going to go for skeetex. Had them before and know what I can and can't do in them. Just use them after setting up only.
