Just wondering how much gear is enough?
I seem to spend a small fortune on tackle each month and it's fair to say that if I'm not actually fishing then I'm thinking about it, and usually that thinking means buying something.
It's ridiculous, I could probably setup 3 times over. 20 years ago I was thinking about using a different kind of rod, my how times have changed
Not being married is probably part of the problem since my misses doesn't see my bank statements and I'm not accountable to anyone.
Anyone else have this problem?

Think we are all guilty of having too much tackle. Unfortunately I am married with a joint account. Wife always questions the small parcel bags being delivered. God helps me if she ever sells my kit for what I tell her it cost me.

i need help with this i m so bad i buy full set ups just for a days perch fishing for eg, never mind all my carp gear,even in the years i had away from fishing i still buy the bloody stuff , i think i have tackle buying ocd

I am very guilty of doing this aswell mate so your not alone
I'm always on the lookout for new gear or even new stuff that comes out, problem is even if I don't like or get along with it I don't recoup any of the money I just give it away to people aswell so end up being a waste of money.
Another thing for me is my mrs knows some of the brands I like trakker, freespirit, shimano ETC so she often buys me stuff aswell without me knowing, I no she is trying to be nice but actually adds to it
Only good thing is I can go fishing when ever I want to, she don't moan at all. If she did I think I'd be on the look out for a new one 🤣

I buy alot of gear, it almost subsidises for my lack of fishing due to family and work commitments etc. however I only buy if the price is right and should I sell it on in future im not going to loose too much if any. ive made on quite a few items recently.
I got offered a job off a guy on a water I bailiff,he wanted 350 for the lot,it wasn't stolen as I had seen him buy it but he couldn't get on with the dedicated carp scene and was going back to feeder fishing and using his barbel rods when he wanted a go for the carp. when I went to see the stuff I couldn't actually believe what was there,I offered him more but he was happy with 350, he said all he wanted was enough for 2 new barbel rods.I took out and kept the items I wanted, split it all up,cleaned what needed cleaning and made over 2k profit from it. I sold it all cheap,really cheap too so everyone buying got really good deals too. it was gone within 2 weeks.
I'm currently upgrading my luggage to all speero gear as I like the quality and how well its thought out...once I've got that im done...for now!!!

I buy when I can,I lost 4/5k worth of gear when I had a bad split living away down south,couldn't be arsed to get stuff from her it was very messy split so eventually cut my losses and moved back to West Midlands,had a year of borrowing my brothers carp gear till I got back into it properly and then in June sold all my gear and trimmed down all gear from rods to Bivvy and had new gear.
I also had 2 new basia custom reels a few years ago because I've always wanted a set of them and treated myself to a pair,I work long hours and a key worker in food industry and I have a fantastic fiancée but luckily dont live with her as she missed last time when I bought 10kilo of bait and accidentally mentioned it to her.

Shouldn't matter if you're married or not, why would your Mrs want to see your bank statements?
Mine doesn't give a monkeys what I earn or spend and that's how it should be. I don't get all this ‘permission to spend your own money' bowlocks I see on FB groups.

Glad I don't change my tackle like some of you guys do, would cost me a fortune.
I've definitely spent a hell of a lot this year on tackle. I've had an analogue carp porter jobs for years, but this year it got to the point of really annoying me and was ruined pushing it around, even though I lash my dogs to it who help drag it around. So I bought one of those new £1k carp porter jobbies; what a life saver! I am going to get a couple more spare battery packs, one spare on the porter and another one left in the car.
I haven't got rake loads of tackle and think what I've got might be modest to some. Got a long range kit, medium to short range kit. Got a few float rods knocking about for a break of chasing carp and a spinner rod for pickles and perch fishing.
If something is annoying me or broken then I'll replace it for something better and either sell on what I don't want any longer or pass it on to someone who could do with it. Gave away a Fox Flatliter earlier this year to someone at work who was just starting up again and couldn't do nights as he didn't have a bedchair - didn't charge him a bean.

After quite a few years fishing I think I have realised the difference between what I want, and what I need, and therefore have a small but reliable set up. My opinion is to buy quality, foe example my rods and reels are 20 + years old, and I have no inclination in changing them.

It does matter I think because if your woman sees you spending thousands on rods and reels then they start thinking you've got money to blow, the problem is more acute when your misses doesn't get your addiction to angling.
The only saving grace this year has been I've not had to plough any dough into a holiday somewhere with this covid issue. We had a cruise booked in April which got canned, thankfully.

Years back I bought a Fox supa brolly thing, I was looking at getting an Aqua M3 compact but just couldn't justify the money. Fast forward a month in, so wished I'd bought the Aqua - bought a second hand Aqua sometime after and gave the Fox to a mate.
Won't be buying casting rods that I can see unless I snap one of them. I'm not one to be buying the 'just released' *super special+*. I have to have a justified reason, not because it's newer than the old thing that's barely any better than. Not knocking anyone that does that btw 😉
