Whilst using the Mahin knot for braid to braid leader, looking for the reputable knot for braided leader to mono reel line.
Looking at the Mahin knot for this just does not look right unlike with the two braids.
The small loop goes in the leader, this means then the whipping Goes up and down with the mono.
Would it be as strong if this was reversed, if so wouldn't the knot be going the other way off the reel which may catch on the way off.

Tried that before, just seems to catch to much for my liking. Nice strong not though, always use it my combi rigs.
Set up on the back to back grinner, see how that goes the weekend.

The trick is leaving longer tag ends as they don't catch like short ones or when trimmed neat

Will try leaving tags longer on the Mahin if I am not confident with the back to back grinner.

It may make a noise but any knot will. I regularly use a Bimini twist to improved Albright leader knot and that makes a hell of a racket sometimes.
