After some opinions on which is the better overall rod for general use as I'm toying with buying a set to replace my old rods. I will pair these rods with my new emblems

The Infinity X45 12ft 3.25lb tc is superb for all round use. Super lightweight , crisp, responsive and not to powerful. The Longbow in 3.5lb is more through action and softer.

I've got the 3.75 longbows and although a fairly stiff blank there far from a broom handle. Lovely to play fish on and a capable casting rod in the right hands. I use with the CI4 5500s which is a really nice light set up.
I've never bumped a fish off even when using braid.

Thanks that's really helpful, I guess it will be best to go and have a look at both and decide which one feels best

Depends on what you define as general use, even the 12ft 2.75tc infinity x45 will cast a baited rog 120 yards and more and play fish bettan than the higher tc models.

I can't comment on the infinity but I've only read good things.
I have the longbow x45 3.75tc, I can honestly say they are awsome rods for the money. I also have scope 3.5tc rods and the longbows are much nicer to play fish and have a softer but fast tip recovery. Scopes feel more like broom handles. Playing fish under the tip on the longbows is no problem but with the scopes it does feel a bit hairy at times. Not had a hook pull yet 🤞
Ive always wanted to have a look at the infinity Mt, I think if I decide to upgrade in a few years I'll be looking at the infinity.

Despite a stated higher TC the 3.5lb Longbow is a lot more through actioned/ softer than the 3.25lb Infinity. If you require the rods for distance then go for the Infinity, if you just want them for general use (but still capable of distance casting) I'd do for the longbow and save a few quid

Not much in it action wise on the 3.75lb versions at all. The taper of the rods are the same (wouldn't surprise me if the same mandrel is used TBH). I have a set of Infinity X45 12' 3.75lb and I was a little concerned at first about playing fish with them due to the change in taper of the blank over the previous rods I had, but as already mentioned, the blank is remarkably forgiving for it's rating.
The main difference between them is the carbons used to create the blanks. The Infinity uses a higher grade of carbon just like the Basia rods do over the Infinity. There is very little in it TBH. I use the Longbow X45 S&M 12' 4.25lb rod for spod/marker/deeper work and if it didn't have Longbow written on the side of it, I would struggle to tell the difference between that and the Infinity's (apart from the tip ring is different!). With the lower test curve on the Spod/Marker rod I was a little hesitant in giving the butt with a large Spider Spod filled up, but it handled it with ease and much easier than with my previous higher test curve Spod rod!
The Longbow's are £100 cheaper per rod than the Infinity's so if you don't want to spend the extra (you could get the spod/marker rod as well if went with the Longbow's & still have change from what the Infinity's cost).

I had a play of the following in the tackle shop yesterday, all in 12': Longbow DF X45 in 3.5 and 3.75 compared against Infinity X45 3.75, Hi-S 3.5 and Hi-S'Ive ER. I was originally split between the Longbow X45 and Infinity X45 but there really was very little difference, the Infinity perhaps being a little stiffer. In the end I settled on the Longbow X45 in 3.5, just slightly more forgiving than the 3.75, but fairly marginal. Both the Longbow's and Infinity were closest in action to the Hi-S'ive ER, with the Hi-S feeling comparably soft. Obviously my test was just looking at the action, plus visual aspects and weight/balance and I can't yet comment on casting or how they feel with a fish on. The Daiwa's felt (and are) lighter than the Hi-S's and I was suprised at the excellent quality of the finishing, it really was on par with a good level of custom build (as the marketing states!) One point to note is that Daiwa are now switching to Fuji Gunsmoke hoods on all their builds due to the ongoing durability issue with the black hoods: a shame really as IMO the black looks better and matches more readily with black reels. I'll report back further on the rods once I've tested them on the bank
