Thinking about getting 3 of either of these two versions of the Technium reels. What do you think are best from your experience?

I'm not interested in anything else by the the way 👍

I do own the MGS XTB and they are excellent but I have not used the XCT so cant give an opinion on which is better.
Being Shimano flag ship models i believe it will be difficult to find fault or favour with either.

I have used and abused my MGS for approx 6 years and they still work perfectly, they look and feel like new, and I do mean used and abused. I have caught a lot of fish on them including carp over 40 and cats to 50

Got both XTB's are a better reel fitted with a quick drag spoil cap rather than the bait runner version

The XTB have the baitrunner 2 spool

Or are you saying they are better if you retro fit the quick drag spool cap

I'm heavily leaning towards the new Techs as their totally sealed from what I best understand, it's just that plastic spool cap 🤮

I've got to say, I do love my 12000 XTB mgs's.

I have 3 along with a set of 10000 XSB mags and BasiAirs, and without doubt I always lean towards the 12000's when I'm going out somewhere.

Personally I do like the baitrunner spool, but I'm used to it, it just needs setting up right. Mechanically I doubt there's a fag paper between them and the XTC's but I think they are a much better looking reel.

Sure you won't go wrong whatever you pick.

I like the bait runner spools too, marmite to some I guess.

Are the XTB's sealed like the new ones?

I dont think so. Isn't it just a vapour seal around the inside of the reel body? Must be in response to those folks that have the reels half submerged in water whilst on sticks 🤣
