Hope everyone is well.
I've recently started to get in to fishing with my dad as my father in law has taken us a few times.
Looking at getting myself and my dad his first and own rod and reel for a Christmas gift, very casual and just getting started but it's something we are both enjoying.
Does any one have any recommendations? I was looking at the Fox Eos 7000 baitrunner for £43 and just a cheap EPV2 Carp Rod, 12ft, 2.75lb.

I'd start with a match rod and reel to be honest and go fishing for silvers first.

What sort of fishing will he be doing - Carp fishing or general course fishing?

I would guess theres a good tackle shop or near you mate. Go in there and talk to them about what you are after and take their advice. If they are worth their salt, they will help you with rigs etc etc and really help you get the best out of the sport / hobby.

Cannot beat starting from the bottom up. Get about catching Perch and silvers with float and maggot firstly.
Can pick up cheap rod and reels to cover this. Eventually progress to see which route you want to go species wise.
All the time learning good watercraft and asking as many questions as you like on here, or people on the bank that are willing to pass on any knowledge.
It is a big step to go straight into carp fishing, especially this time of year. With how hard it can be catch carp, you could quickly loose that interest that you currently have.
