From advice received on here I have got my boy a couple of 10ft TFG rods. Now need to decide which reels? Looking for baitrunner type reel and relatively light. Would appreciate people's opinions advice. TIA

I would go a little further than relatively light. Definitely look for reels as light as possible that will do what you need.
I use two different reels on mine 220 g and 345 g but much prefer the way the rod handles with the lighter reel.

Boy hasnt used them yet, his birthday in a couple of weeks, but I have had a play around with them and reckon they will be perfect. But I put a shimano baitrunner on (about 550 grams) and rods did not feel balanced, hence why I have asked this question

Have a look at Daiwa Ninja LT in size 4-, 5- or 6000. They are from 280 to 370 grams.

Been having a look and have found Shimano Baitrunner ST FB 4000 which weigh 355g or Fox EOS 5000 which weigh 350g. The boy isnt going to be launching leads 100 yards, but not sure if size/line capacity is too small?

I had the DL's on some 9ft Scope rods, the only thing against them was the spool is a small diameter and can make some lines go quite curly, apart from that they did the job well.

Are they the burgundy coloured 2.5lb test curve TFG Compact Commercial carp rods? If so, great choice, lovely rods (about the only thing that TFG do that could be called lovely). I had a set which I sold to by buddy. Every time he gets them out I wish I'd not got rid. They feel amazing playing fish.
Any 2500 or 4000 shimano reel should give a light and balanced feel, complimenting these rods.

Yep my lad was using the DL's on 9ft rods but the spool was a problem, particularly when spooled up with braid for piking in winter.

Yes they are the ones. The boy's birthday is in a couple of weeks, he recently caught his first double figure fish, but that was on an old Shimano 12ft rod. So looking forward to him hooking something on new rods where he can enjoy playing the fish a lot more.
