I have been using tubing from bank tackle and have to be honest, I'm finding that it's not shrinking down enough. Has anyone else had problems with it?

I'm surprised, as the rest of their stuff is spot on.

I size did you order and what size hooks are you using ??

I tried to shrink down a medium shrink tube from thinking anglers last night on a size 5 esp gripper and it didn't shrink down as much as I expected
Couldn't get The small size on the hook

I have tried both sizes. The small is a bit too tight to do a neat ronnie, and the large is a bit too big so doesn't shrink around the shank enough.

I have not used the banks tackle one but I have always liked the Nash stuff and the new Avid shrinks well

Bought some korda stuff today and it works exactly as expected. Shame really as I usually rate the bank tackle stuff.

I've only used korda and esp never had a problem with either. Some types shrink more than others. That's when you get problems.

Shrink tube will have a shrink down ratio. Forget the ideal tackle dealers it's used in the electrical / electronic trade and decent prices usually 1m for a quid upwards

Yea I did look but couldn't find anything locally.

I got mine from rapid electronics years ago 👍 brilliant stuff

Been using the Korda clear stuff for years & only time I changed to others was if shops were out of stock. I have noticed though that a lot of the coloured/tinted types don't shrink or stay as stiff as the Korda stuff does. I have had a dabble with the stiff Korda shrink tube but you have to be very careful with it especially in summer as the sun can shrink it in the packet making it useless!

i have found that the cheaper tackle vendors "plastics" not quite as good as the usual big firms
