Could you let me know your recommendations and thoughts on zig rig components, been looking at the Fox gear generally - 11lb zig line, and zig aligners with foam - black seems to be the one most of the time.

Fox zig aligners certainly work well as does the Avid zig line. Haven't tried Fox line. Korda Mixa hooks also have caught for me in 8's.
For adjustables a marker float lead boom off ebay (markondevelopments I use), large Fox (Rage) piker subfloat and large eye swivel to PVA tie the zig back on itself onto the large eye for casting and helps distance. guarantees no tangles. use a small section of PVA stocking fed through the eye and loop tied on. then hook through the loop. and if you really want to push the boat out a ball bearing swivel lead to reduce twist when casting and retrieving long chucks. I also use a line clip to provide some resistance to help hooking on a free running adjustable.

The Rig Marole Specimon is the best zig hooklink I've come across.
Regards hooks/hookbaits, you don't need to be fussy imo. I use a size 6 (generally whatever wide gape type pattern I can find lying around) and foam. I'll use a cut down pop up where foam/artificials are banned.
The zig aligners are decent but I don't bother using them. I do add a tiny bit of shrink to hold the gape open.

any 6-8 hook and cca 0,28mm hooklink with foam or pop up will do for me.

I generally use the Korda floater line (got a few old spools that I have had for quite some time as do not use it often) and this has not let me down. I often use the zig aligners from Fox (although many smaller companies now offer almost identical kit for less) of standard short hair if using a pop up rather than foam. Hooks I rarely go above a size 10 and use a mixa type hook (the only Korda pattern I still actively use). Again, not been let down by this setup although as admitted I do not zig fish that often, unless conditions dictate
