Can anybody recommend a decent 10ft (maybe 11ft?) Carp rod for the boy? He is 11 years old and taking an interest. He landed his first double figure fish last week, but struggled a bit handling a 12ft rod, so think a shorter rod will help him playing fish?

I got a couple of 9 foot dwarfs in 2.75 for my lad when he was about 11. Slim and lightweight he can handle them
Well. My 12 foot free spirits are a completely different beast. When im using the dwarfs they feel like a toy.
The only problem they both just randomly snapped at the tip over time.
But it did show me that short light rods were much better for him.

I love my dwarfs but imo get the Sonik xtractors no need to pay double the price for dwarfs at that age

Definitely consider the tfg Compact commercial. Very light in the hand, forgiving through action that will work with a 2 lb carp but has extra power available to easily handle a 20 plus.
I'm convinced he would enjoy using them.

If you can find them, get him a couple of Chub Outkast "Smallwater" 11 footers.
2.25lb tc and as light as a feather.
Highly (and I do mean HIGHLY) recommended.

I got a pair of Prologic 10ft rods for my son. We use them on commercials and due to lockdown I've started fishing a local park lake and using them myself. So fsr very nice to use catching low singles up to a mid 20 I had last week on them. Think I paid less than £50 for the pair from eBay as a bonus
