Just a quick question. Is there any way around not using Microsoft office ? I've been trying to join a few work agancy but when thay send the info threw on pdf file it comes up as I need Microsoft office and have to pay for it. I don't won't to pay for something that I'm going to use only about twice . Is there another way to open it up ?

If its a pdf download for free adobe reader
That is the native software for pdf files not ms office.

When I try to open it all up it says I need Microsoft office and asking me to pay for it. Is there a thing to get round it ? As I'm totally thick when it comes to computer

Google have a suite of programs the same as
And you can send them as Microsoft docs if you need to And save it from Microsoft to google docs

Buy a code off EBay for around £6 I recently had too do this for my iPad Pro to open spread sheets and complete invoices.
You will get the whole Microsoft office.

If you don't mind working online, you can get a free office subscription, just sign up to Microsoft One Drive. You won't have all the bells and whistles, but will be able to open PDc and the standard office documents

Download the Microsoft edge web browser, it is free and you can open pdf's in that. Decent browser too

Adobe Acrobat Reader is another option as Acrobat is the original PDF creation software. The Reader just allows you to open up PDF's. You don't need Microsoft Office though to open PDF's (& MS does reader apps for their Office programs so you can open up files in their formats without needing to pay for the full programs)

Have a look on EBay mate, you need the student versions for home use
Not sure what's around you where you live but most library's have PCs and local authorities community centres that you can use. Just take a memory stick to save your documents on. I use my local one if I'm printing from home too, gave up with home printers, rubbish. Charge me 5p per print. Maybe worth a look?

He's talking about opening a PDF. You don't need office at all to open a PDF. It should open in any internet browser. I suspect something has gone wrong somewhere along the line where he has selected a default programme for opening PDF's which is actually not present on the device.

Way back in the mists of time, I bought Office Pro 2000. It is not time-limited and while it is dated it still serves me very well indeed. In fact, I still have it installed on both my desktops and my laptop! Nowadays, Office is a limited time only suite with annual renewals. Bah, Humbug!

It does me, I only need the basics.
It's not supposed to work with Windows 10 but there's ways of making it work.
Previous to that I used Office Pro 2000 with a dodgy key and that worked on a number of machines, probably still works but I haven't bothered due to the above.
