Does anyone else use these to soak on hookbaits in the winter?
I did it last year with black pepper and fenugreek but to be honest didn't notice any difference

im guessing some are more effective than others, perhaps seasonal.
I remember Baz Griffiths hauling at Frampton with hookbaits soaked in neat B.P.E.O.
MARKerz, if you have oils that work, PM me too plz

Yeah I wouldn't mind a copy if that's no problem. I only really fish in the winter with singles or minimal bait.

And me please
PM for me too please. I like EO's but it's more trial and error to find out which ones work.

Exhausting trial and error to find out which ones work, at the right doses.

A lot depends on the supplier, the purity of said oils of choice and the consistency of supply once you have found a good one or two.
From memory.
one winter me and a friend were dabbling with various orange 🍊 oils or mandarin oil.
1ml per mix was a winner with one, put the other was much weaker

Cinnamon oil
Cinnamon oil
I second what Scaley&dark says.
Not all essential oils are equal, far from it. They all claim that they are “pure” but this means sod all.
There are lots of very effective essential oils. The key is to get a fresh, high quality one and find the right inclusion level for that particular one.
I would say soaking hookbaits in eo would be complete overkill but I'd imagine with some eo's you could get away with it.
When combining a few eo's together dispersion rates are also very worth while considering.
PS fenugreek and black pepper oil- you aren't on the wrong track at all. These are both very effective if you get good examples of them. Although there is better out there for winter.

Does anyone know the blend of oils in the old Nash/Shaun Harrison sting essential oil blend?
I used to do quite well with that in the sting fish mix in summer then switching to the amber attract base mix in the winter with no other attractors just some sweetener 25+ years ago.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, it´s almost impossible to verify purity & authenticity of so called EOs.
It´s hit & miss. The days of dark brown bottles, totally sealed, with authentic looking labels including latin names etc, don´t mean jack sh1te. Cheaper synthetic fillers are widely used. Trust reputable suppliers. and avoid any bottles with the word "fragrance" on the label.
Roughly check purity, by using the missus´ makeup remover pads
Afew drops on em, and if a visible ring of residue appears after the EO has dried, then you know that the EO has been most likely diluted with a carrier oil.
As a rough guide, check the Latin name, plant parts used, type of extraction, growth method, net contents, and country of origin, then pray you get a bend in the rod
ALWAYS check specific gravity as well, so you know how the oil is reacting in the water ... either hugging the bottom around the hookbait, or drifting up.
