. . .have just acquired a nice set of tournies with Weston Washers / Speed caps fitted.
Don't really want QD (its under half a turn from fs to locked) as am used to at least 3-4+ full revolutions but would like to experience something in between.
Still have the original washers / caps so could always revert to original (which I may end up doing) however is there a way of setting up the Weston washers so that a single full revolution (eg. 12 o'clock to 12 o'clock) from fs to locked can be achieved?
Prefer the look of the original caps so would like to include these as well if poss. . . . have already tried just swopping to the original caps but it doesn't 'feel' right . .

I put some felt washers in my emblems to slow them down, swapping 2 felt washers for the solid washers that come in them. It's just trial and error to get it where you want it. The original cap and one felt washer is probably a good starting point

its the actual cap that makes it quick drag, in the cap there is a spring washer that get swapped for a solid washer.
you could change this in the original caps for a looser drag but I wouldn't know how to go about it.
as far as I know the washers just make the drag feel nicer, they don't actually reduce the amount of turns required to lock up the drag or loosen it.

Though i agree the cap makes the most determinable difference, the washers can also have an effect.
the Emblem 35 loadoflettersaftertherename reels have solid plastic washers in the spool assembly. if you change these to something more compressible (ie felt) it 'slows' the drag down. Same goes the other way for replacing felt washers with something which can be compressed less (IE plastic and i would guess carbon?) whihc would speed the drag up.

My own experience of the reels I have is the washers make no difference in terms of drag speed.

its the split spring in the cap that makes a reel quick drag 100%
I only know this as ive converted a tourny cap myself to use it as a spod reel, I used a section of bank stick sawn down to 3mm thick to replace the old spring. made it 1 turn from locked up to free.

It's a bit of both, if I swap the caps between my emblems and my entohs the drags are pretty equal, likewise if I swap the washers they end up much the same, if anything the washers have a bigger impact
