Just having a look on the baitroom site and noticed his closed shop for 3-4 months also noticed his price has gone up to £30 a pot which i will not pay as its way to steep for a pot of pop ups. Anyone know of somewhere that does something similar to his the fizz pop ups?
Had a look at high attract specials pop ups and they do something similar called the original specials only problem they dont do them in white. Anyone used these if so are they any good?
Thanks

Looks like he's trying to sell the business to a big company. It will all end in tears in the name of margin and marketing as corners are cut (see Aqua).

From the website.

I have decided to take a 3-4 month sabbatical, dedicating the time to my family and my fishing rods. Demand for my products has reached a level that I could never hope to meet. Each week as I made the website basket available, 3000+ anglers would strip my stock bare in a matter of minutes, a months work sold just like that. It might sound great but it is relentless and puts a good deal of pressure on family life.

For those of you who say “ Why don't you expand? ”, I have obviously thought about it but I have no interest in organic expansion and the responsibility that goes with it. I would prefer to be incorporated in to a larger company with proven ability in the field, I have had early talks with a global leader.

Good bye Baitroom, it was nice knowing you.

Have a look at impulse mk2 mate, they do them in white now too I believe. If you don't fancy them then white northern specials are very similar. I've used baitroom for years, best I've used, be gutted if he does shut up completely.

If he does sell out to another company only thing that will happen is the quality will go down a bit like when taska took over nutrabaits and run it into the ground.

Good luck to the guy, hes clearly worked hard to build his reputation and the demand, proves hes got a super effective product. Demand out stripping supply.

I doubt the new owner will keep the quality but we can live in hope.

Just shows, with a positive approach and a good product theres plenty of money to be made should you push hard.

Im sure others will step into the void, lets hope there as good as the current Baitroom range.

UB Baits have just announced on facebook that they are now doing fizz pop ups. That should be your first port of call.

How many company acquisitions that take place end up doing something similar. Cut corners and essentially change the successful formula of the business that they bought in the first place which ultimately detracts from the end product(s) and loses confidence in customers before it's “run into the ground” as mentioned. It baffles me how some business owners operate to try and save a few quid to be as lean as possible. Yeah right! It's only lean if the quality maintains. Sad to hear.

At least hes decided that the monster hes created has become all encompassing and has taken a step back for a while
Mitch is a smashing fella and it takes a brave person to stop what is a huge success for their sanity
Thankfully ive got a few pots left

I'm sure he makes quality baits, no doubt

If he wants to double the price that's his choice. As is the customers that wants to pay £30 for a tub of pop ups.

Only one thing that annoys me with stuff like this, I'm know this guy is knocking quality baits out and respect to the man but how long is it before the market if flooded with inferior ***** as others try to cash in on it and charge £20 to £30. That's what wrong for me

I suppose the only good news is people would stop buying them but the damage has already been done

Might start pulling £1000 a pot in 10 years time on EBay
Are you sure?
