I bought a set from the German website M&R at the start of this year.
They are still selling them at 150 euros each.
Nothing bad to say about them, smooth, feel well made and look much better in the flesh.
For the cash you will struggle to get a better big pit.
How much are AD selling them for?
I can fully recommend M&R Tackle- I have had a few sets of reels from the over the years without any drama. Shipping is not much longer than most uk based outlets, and faster than some.

If they are anything like the originals they will be very good. I haven't got the new version as I have the originals and they are still in perfect working order so I do not need to change and definitely don't feel a need to upgrade as they are great. Clearly not helping your direct question but giving a long term user guide of the general build quality and standard of the Penn Affinity reels

And to think there were some on here who were slating them as cheap Chinese rubbish that won't last when they came out is quite funny...!!

Were there? I've got no complaints at all, as good a build quality, possibly better than any Shimano or Daiwa I have owned (accepting I have never spent the money on the top of the range models from either company)

Yep, I was singing their praises and was getting laughed at. I've had way more expensive reels and the penns are the best of the lot, if they fitted my reel seats I'd have another set for sure. If these carbon ones fit I'll be getting them

It was only because the had 18mm seats put onto my rods I had made instead of 20s, my own fault as I requested them thinking they'd fit, with anything off the shelf you should be fine

Are they any better than the standard affinity 7000? They would need to as fishing Republic were doing these for £80.99.

Be careful buying from Germany now were no longer in the EU. I have just bought a crash helmet, costing £200, and was charged £52 in duties and taxes.... :(
