I'm in the market for new rods, I've looked at a few but none "tickle my fancy". I've recently seen the Wolf X series of rods, the X3k's in particular, and they really do look the part. Wolf are not that popular so I cannot go to a tackle shop and have a play around with them. Has anyone got them, what is their playing action like, etc? I've heard a few people say that they're stiff. Thanks in advance 👌🎣

This is Cliff Fox's (of Fox International) sons company, so I heard. I've waggle one but not used one to fish with, interesting builds with the alp seats etc but fairly heavy rods and don't feel as good as they look imo. Felt a bit heavy, stiff and lifeless to me...

That's disappointing, they really do look the part. I don't have a clue what rod to buy. I don't want to spend more than £250 on a rod preferably.

2 mate's of mine have them, one has 3k and the other 1k, both rate them. I've only seen the 1k version in action with a 30lb+ on, it's a 3lb 12' version, to be honest I wasn't impressed with the action, only seemed to have any bend in the last 3', the rest very stiff. It didn't look like it would absorb lunges very well. They look good, and as I said they both like them. But not for me. Not a lot of help but just thought I'd throw it out there.

I'm not really a fan of greys rods but that's mostly because of their specimen/barbel rods... never did anything for me although they were perfectly functional. That said, the greys aircurve carp rods they do are well worth a look.
We're all different, I find some of the free spirit rods a bit steely and lifeless when compared to say a torrix, but I know others who see it the other way entirely. Don't take my word as gospel on the Wolf rods - they just didn't strike me enough compared to other rods based on first impressions alone.

I was going to buy a 12ft 3.25lb, for my heavier long distance fishing situations. I don't know any tackle shops local that distribute them unfortunately.

For that money I would be looking at the 3.25 Cerberas from Johnson Ross, you'll have a bit of change too.
