Recently purchased a Shimano Aerlex spod reel to use on my marker rod, but the "quick drag" is not that quick..

Fished with a friend last week who has the Sonik Vader spod reel and the difference in the amount you have to turn the drag on the front is massive. Half a turn compared with nearly two turns on the Shimano

Is there a quick way to fix this?

Remove the spring inside for quick drag, very easy to do

Edit: think with the Aerlex you need to remove or add some slip plates to make it quick drag

Replace the white grease felt washers in the spool for carbon ones / ice washers future fishing sell them

Changing the washers won't speed it up, might make the drag smoother but thats not what he wants.

Yes it will speed the drag up the aerlex spod reel has the instant drag cap so it's just a case of adding carbon washers to the spool

No probs if I'm wrong, what difference in the number of spool cap turns did you get on your Aerlex spod reel from tight to free spool?

The reason it speeds them up is the felt washers compress when drag is turned so the drag can have more turns before locking up also means more turns to loosen, carbon, ice, even nylon washers dont compress so less turn needed to lock and unlock spool

Agreed, ime the thicker the washer the more it speeds it up.
