Hello,
I want to go to Abbey Lakes next year but I wanted to know how do you pick your peg.
I know there is no draw but if I wanted to go on Heron for example do I pre book Heron and then turn up and pick a peg or do you just pay for a week on the complex and you just get a choice of what is left?
Just a bit concerned about turning up and then only having a choice of the not so popular swims.

you book a week or whatever on the lake you want to fish. Quieter times you may be able to move lakes if there's space free. Its not sat-sat like most places so think smart to give yourself the best chance of getting on the fish.

Thanks mate, how are the pegs chosen?
First come first served basis?
Would I be better off turning up on the Friday to get a better chance of a decent peg?
I would have thought most anglers do Sat to Sat.

Just drive/walk round see what's free or coming free. Jump in.
Yes most do sat-sat, turn up on the thurs/fri to beat the rush. Either book the day before on one of the other lakes if possible or sleep on the lawn area by the clubhouse so that you're checked in before the mad rush on sat morning. Id recommend early Friday afternoon train get to Abbey for late afternoon, check in, have a meal in the restaurant (its excellent ) sleep on the lawn, then straight onto the lake sat morning.

I booked a single day on the Friday for one of the other lakes and used it to go round lake doing research. Then picked the swim I wanted for the next day and left something in swim to reserve it. Fished the night not having to worry about getting a decent swim!

We always go on the Friday and do the same as you Ritchie,
Saturday mornings always remind me of wacky races
