I just received two wychwood fltr rods in the post but the way they were in the parcel has caused rod ring dents in the cork handles.



Any tricks for getting these out? I was thinking of laying a warm wet flannel on them to see if it will come out... Just finding out from the shop if I can still return them after taking the shrink wrap off the cork

Just use them. Quality of these cork rings aren't great. Cork need to be used & abused.

Have different quality of cork rings on different set's of rods. The most expensive grade cork fitted with single rings is the most durable, smooth en less filler used.

If you can live with the dents, i don't think they will harm the rod, suggest to the shop a discount would make them more viable for you.

I could live with that and probably some water and left in hot sun will probably draw the dent out

I think I saw somewhere once that boiling water helps dents in cork but I'm not sure if I'm imagining it or not. Make of that what you want.

The hot water repair trick was for duplon handles.

The corks used on many budget rods are not even full cork, they are a hard foam with about a mm of cork around it.
I rebuilt the handles in my korum barbel rods and was very surprised to find this but it makes no difference in the real world.

Wet cloth and an iron that's how you get dents out of wood 😉 should do the same trick
