Anyone tried using the helisafe with 8oz leads and dropping from a boat?
Just wanted to see if the clip is strong enough to hold that weight, I never even seen one out of the packet before

No but I have hit 4oz as hard as I can with no issues. Dropping will be fine bud.

Ok nice one, have you ever fished them naked? Do they have another stem which pushes in the top for naked fishing?

Yes. No stem required but I do use a line saver bead.

Is there any specific reason you want to use a heli rig when dropping from a boat? The obvious choice
Would be a lead clip. Also, if you're just dropping from a boat you could use a weak link to attach the lead rather than the heli safe.

Personally if I wanted to drop the lead for whatever reason then I wouldn't be using a heli rig full stop

Why would I not use a heli safe system? Of course if the technology wasn't available to drop the lead I wouldn't be using it but it exists and this means I can fish in a situation I would normally wouldn't do with an 8oz lead. It's not always possible to find clear spots which suits a lead clip arrangement hence why I need to use a safe system to discharge the lead using a helicopter set up

Ok watched the vid, makes sense. As I'm fishing it naked I don't think the risk is as high that that with lead core but nether the less there is still a risk there as the video shows
