I've recently bought new 30lb Berkley whiplash braid andl loaded onto my marker and spod rods along with 50lb armakord leader. I've tied the leader with a double uni knot.
I have fished a few times and each session when I have tried to whack out the marker, the braid cracks off. I always wet the braid before casting and I'm baffled as to why I keep cracking off!
Does braid need to be bedded in? Whats happening here, it can't just be coincidence

If the leader knot is on the spool it won't be the knot. Whiplash is pants, probably spilling off too fast, wrapping round a guide and cracking off

have you overfilled the spool, you must not fill the spool like you would with mono
i use exact same set up with whiplash and Avid leader and had no issues at all
and its so much better then the cheap crap Chinese braid

Ive went back to mono and an 50lb armacord leader on my emblem spod reel. Always found braid a pain in the ass.

On my spod rod I went back to mono and Amnesia or Greased Weasel shockleader.
I found braid caused too many problems, too many crack-offs amongst other issues.

Sometimes the thin side of the braid on the knot overtakes the thicker part of it (because it comes off the spool easier) and wraps around the knot and cuts it off.
You can double the thinner braid up for an additional rod length or so and use the (now double thickness thin braid) to tie to the heavier braided leader for a smoother transition through the rings.
I used to get the same with thin mono and heavy flouro shockleaders. Used to crack off near the top of the rod (3rd or 4th eye down) and I was always left with the knot left which meant it was cracking off on the thick side of the mono above the knot.
