I have been given some old tackle and whilst the nostalgia/vintage aspect is rather nice it is not something I want to hang on to.
Got a couple of Allcocks split cane rods and among other bits.
Does anyone know the best place to sell these?
Not a massive eBay fan/user anymore, but if it comes to it I'll go down that road.

Traditional angling retro tackle TART on face book would be a good place to start and for advice. Andrew Green is a mine of information.

I use all Traditional stuff these days, as in Rods & Reels - much more interesting. If the rods are in good nick and not been tampered with you could be shocked at their value, as the value of prior commercialised Carp Fishing era Tackle is going through the Roof!
You could ask Thomas Turners for a valuation or another option ask someone who's on one of the invite only Traditionalist Forums to do a valuation for you.
eBay would not be my choose either, I'd keep hold of them first - or even try them out, the experience of catching something on a Cane Rod is something you never forget

They're probably worthless. Tell you what, I'll give you a tenner for them to get them out of your way...

If you do list them on ebay you will get many 'friendly' folk offering to buy them for cash before the auction ends. That is a good sign that they are valuable
If you do use one please do so with a bit of care. Cane and carbon are vey different animals and over stretching a rod that may have been sitting idle for decades can have drastic results. Check too the rings, many will have rusted or agates may be chipped and cut line.
Warning - If you do get use them it can become addictive and end up costing a fortune - apparently

I've gone from wanting to get rid to now wanting to use them!
Luckily first time out using them will only be on a small pool with carp to 5lb, purely for some sport on them. Wouldn't want to go in too heavy using them first off, as I'm not sure how long they have been sitting idle for, but will follow the advice and check out the rings and rod itself for issues first.

You could certainly ask Thomas Turner for a valuation, but this might give you an inflated idea of value - they do tend to err on the (very) heavy side!

Go use them, stick some decent same era Reels on - Mitchell 300, Abu 54 or 55's , even a pair of Ambidex.
But as Dave warned - once hooked the traditional route is one that's hard to get off, but also extremely rewarding - it puts the fun and dare I say also the "Skill" back into your fishing

Used the cane rod this weekend, what a pleasure to use 
So glad I came on here and had my mind turned to give them a go. Couple of small carp on them, nearly bent double though
Wouldn't have wanted anything bigger on them for fear of snapping in half 
Unfortunately didn't have a reel to match the set up, but had an old enough Shimano match reel, from about 15 years ago, I think, so just gave that a go and it was absolutely fine with it

Good on you mate.
Think of it like having a classic car. Might not do 0-60 in 5 seconds (or at all) and might be a bit tricky on tight bends but there's a joy in the experience nonetheless
