Hi guys what's the biggest reel you can fit to the new 2020 dwarf 6 ft rods. I have just received one for my b-day and don't have a reel that fits the seat.
I will be stalking only and will be using 20lb line which is a bit unruly as I'm fishing near trees and don't want to be letting fish run too far and also for the abrasion resistance. I prefer bigger size reels is the gs4000 daiwa reel the biggest I can get away with or do you have any recommendations. Anything daiwa, shimano sonik or okuma you could suggest. Thanks guys

could get a rod builder to change the reel seat so you can use a current reel - a easy job for them.

A 6ft rod doesn't need a big(ger) reel does it?
It's for close in work anyway.
A Daiwa SS1600 would be perfect i'd say.

I use bait runner type reels on some river rods which have smaller spools and the heavy line is a nightmare for coming off after I have swung the rig out or casted out. Just keeps coiling off until you have it tight and sorted.
Just wanted to see what people were using as the rod sleeves you buy are definitely not designed with ss1600 reels in mind

Perhaps a change of line is called for.
I've used 15lb line for fishing up to snags using smallish reels and never had a problem.

I am using Daiwa sensor in 10 and 15lb.
No not particularly dense but it does what I want as I only fish short range. Quite forgiving regarding knots and stretch so I've kept with it. Bonus is it's cheap.
Probably not good for abrasion though but that's not a problem for me where I fish.

I use GS3000 reels on my dwarf rods with .35 mono.. I don't need to cast far and the rod/reel balances very well

What line are you using mate are they the 6ft 3lb dwarfs?

I'd consider a spinning reel of some description - small, light and built to fight fish more fierce than carp.
