Just been reading Steve Ringers Ultimate Guide to Feeder Fishing and in the section on Casting he states 'For really long casts you'll have to stand up'! That really made me chuckle, his idea of of long distance casting is anything over about 60yds!

He's a matchman fishing off a seat box, they have to stand up for a longer chuck otherwise the feeder will hit the floor, create slack and cause a crack off

I've fished with people who couldn't hit 60 yards with carp gear. 😂
And others who thought 60 was 100

I was fishing at Suffolk Water Park one of the back pegs on the point, and casting to the golf course bank, just shy of the rushes. Guy in the next peg was getting two thirds of the way across, when I spoke to him he reckoned he was hitting 120 yards. I didn't have the heart to tell him I had measured it to the far bank with a laser range finder, it was 108metres.😖😉
Of course we have 'Old Bill' the bailiff who has fished here for 90years, "that island there boiy, that be at 100 yards", talking about the island that is at 60 yards tops...😆😱

60 yards with a soft 8ft feeder rod and a small feeder dropping it on a dustbin lid every time I think I would like to stand up too.

Same, spent years fishing a lake in late 90s/early 2000s, was well known to cast towards the far bank. Fished for years of being told it was 120 yards and not really questioning it when people couldn't reach it.
Went back a couple of years ago for a bit of a good ole days type trip. Stuck a method ball within a foot of the tree line and thought I was a god. Paced it out later in the day at 96 yards. Gear has come a long way in 20 years but obvious now that distances get exaggerated when people can't reach them.
