Has anyone got any carps at home was thinking of getting a tank but its all new to me

ive kept fish for years - mainly cichlids...
carp in a tank wont work really... you'll need a massive tank with very good filtration
best kept in a large pond with ample filtration...
remember - you can always under filter but never over filter

Bad idea keeping carp in a tank unless you are growing them on to put in a pond, and a decent sized pond at that

Right ok yeah looking up also they just keep them in tanks then to move into ponds do they? Might get digging this weekend then

Large pond only. They outgrow a tank in no time. Been there done that.

It's quite a bit of work and expense so research koi keeping before you start.
Basically you will need something like a few thousand gallons minimum, 4 ft deep depending on winter temperatures, good filtration and water turnover, big UV light to kill the algae and time to clean filters every few days. I've got a separate pond acting as a filter and that works well.
Don't overstock is also important if you want to see decent sized fish.

It's a lot of digging but I guess you've probably got a bit of spare time at the moment like most.. If you are going to do it then do the biggest you possibly can, and as said with a good bit of depth. Minimum 3 feet but preferably deeper

Ive got a digger as i oive on a small Holding so im just thinking about the pond with the coming features Alot of different idead just need to pick which one

Yes thats what im doing atm my friend suggested the same hes got 2 ponds so he will be giving me a help in hand otherwise i wouldnt bother trying it. Yes thats a Must have decent size

Ideal if you have a digger, if you can return the water from the filter pond to the main pond via a stream and waterfall it adds some interest for you and the fish.
My fish love it and normally spend a lot of time in that area, especially in the summer.
