Does anyone know the test curve of the new spomb rod by fox.
I've got the 13 ft and it feels stiff.

If it's 13ft it's obviously a distance casting rod purposely designed for putting a spomb a long way. Why would you want it any softer?.

I have the X5 13ft spod/marker. It is a stiff powerful rod designed to cast long distances. I can't find a test curve but I would guess at something over 5lb as it easily manages a large spomb full of bait. Not sure test curve is relevant, casting weight more useful.

Can't seem to find T/C listed anywhere, but if its anything like the Free Spirit spomb rod, it will be at least 4.5lb.

It'll be more than 4.5 I reckon. It's called the 13 ft LR (Long Range) so it's bound to be stiff imo.

Sids I completely agree I didn't answer your question because it simply does not matter. Its a tool for a specific job long range spodding did you expect it to be anything other then stiff?.

I would say the 13 is a least 5lb if not 5.5. The 12 foot would be around 4.5 test imo

Free spirit 13ft has a much softer tip action, test curves are one thing, rod action is another.
Parabolic, fast taper, moderate. You can 3 rods with the same test curve and 3 different actions.

Test curve is the weight required to bring the tip to a 90 degree angle to the butt. Easy enough to measure if you feel it is relevant.

Love mine the mr and lr 12ft.
Nice and light not overly stiff so easy to load. Not used either over 100yds as don't need to on my waters.
But I fell the lr still has plenty left in it.
