I treated myself to a r series xl one man as my back hurts after crawling around in other ones. It arrived today and I put it up in the kitchen tonight. Nice and tall and I am only a short arse so perfect. It went up great but I couldn't get it apart. It took me ages and my back was killing me once I finally got it apart.
Am I missing something or do I just need more spinach. I have waxed the poles and will have another go at the weekend. Will it loosen of with use ?

I use to have one but never had a problem with putting it up or taking it down? Are you struggling to get the poles back apart? I never had a problem at all with my before I sold it. Good bivvy especially with you have a bad back it's perfect for you to help with that

Try a little bit of WD40 on the pole joints. I had this issue before and after I put the WD40 on the joints it came apart much easier.

Yes getting it apart was real hard. I had undone the strap and made sure the tension straps were loose. Hopefully the wax will help.

I have the same problem with mine! Cant work out why, the poles did stick, I think its the tension and not enough play in the bivvy skin. I get them out eventually but as you say bloody knackered afterwards

Are you just trying to pull them out by holding the two poles with your hands next to the joint.I find if you have your hand on one pole by the join then on the pole your trying take out have your other hand further down where the gap in the fabric is and just lift a little as you pull.It just seems alot easier that way as if it's taking some tension out the pole.I hope all that makes sense

Yep I get that. didn't want to pull on fabric area........ where do you start separating them. Which joint and which pole. It just occurred to me that I only tried the last joint on each pole.

Start with the outside poles.Dont hold the fabric though as it will pull the stitching out,use the gap between the fabric but further down the pole.

Thanks again. That's what I was doing. Next time i do it it will no doubt be peeing down and howling a gale that should help.

Just got one of these second hand to take my twins fishing for them to sleep in, and am having the same problem, did anyone find a fix that actually worked???
Was considering cutting the elastic on the last pole that seems to be the problem one!
