Hi All,
Second go at this one. I'm fishing a bungee set up off a curtain hook on a tree branch to get a vertical presentation. I had some 1.3lb elastic to do this, but I ran out and bought some 1lb stuff off some recommendations from forum members.
Not gonna mention the brand as it was/is a quality product. I bought some hollow stuff and it's really struggling with the heat out here almost becoming brittle in sunlight and breaking in a light breeze.
Anyone with any knowledge of pole elastic or any other product around the 1lb breaking strain that can offer up any options to have a look at would be really appreciated

When i fished like that on the river i just used light mono and attached it to my main line braid via a bent paper clip, i have used various strength monos up to 4lb it always snapped very quickly on the take even when barbel or bream picked the rig up

Tried mono, but where I'm fishing is tidal and it tends to produce a lot of false bleeps on the alarms. The elastic stretch seems to eliminate this.
Tried elastic bands but again crap in sunlight

When I match fished I bought all my elastics off a guy called Nick Gilbert, he had fantastic knowledge of it. Might be worth running your requirements past him. Easily found on google, just search float store (he makes handmade pole floats)

A while now, but we used sensas stuff for years all over Europe , Spain ,Portugal ,Italy . 8-10 top kits every practice twice a day in silly heat and sun sometimes. not sure what 1lb elastic breaks at ,but prob anywhere from .8 -1mm sounds about right. I would be amazed you didn't get a couple of days out of it before it pinged off, and that due to over tension rather than perishing in the sun.
how much tension is it under, 8-10oz of lead, how far? as the more I think, you may be putting it under quite a bit . hollo will stretch further than solid per given length btw

I'm sorted now thanks, got some Shakespeare stuff called cedar gum, works perfect.
The lake I'm fishing is tidal so the tension is constantly varying and hence the need for some form of elasticated bungee link rather than nylon.
